Purpose and Goals:
The safe and responsible use of firearms is the primary goal of our program. Safety is incorporated and reinforced during every aspect of practices and competitions. Athletes become familiar with and learn to follow the rules of shooting etiquette at all times, while enjoying participation in the sport of trapshooting and the commitment that goes with it. Our athletes have the opportunity to develop proficiency in a sport that can be shared and enjoyed with family and friends for a lifetime.
It is our goal to instill a respect for good sportsmanship, competitiveness, cooperation, teamwork and high moral character through trapshooting competition. We hope to create a set of personal values and character traits, including fair play, compassionate understanding, individual responsibility, self‑discipline and personal commitment -- qualities necessary to become successful and contributing members of the community.
Specific criteria has been established for athletes to be awarded a varsity letter for trapshooting.
Athletes are required to comply with the FHS Dress Code, all provisions contained in the Category 3 ‑ Competitive Activities -- of the FHS Co‑Curricular Code, as well as the additional rules of the Kettle Moraine Conference and Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP).
